Work Attire

This is what I have been looking like recently at work.  I have to wear this so the acidic environment won't eat my clothes alive.  The Refinery workers call this the "clown suit"  I also have the green hard hat just for that extra cool factor :)

Madelyn's mission call and endowments out!

Madelyn got her mission call to Portland Oregon!!  She leaves on July 17th and I couldn't be more excited for her!!!  She recently just took her endowments out at the Jordan River Temple.  I'm so proud of her decision to serve a mission.  She will be a great little missionary.

My cute parents

Brad's Special Needs Dance

These aren't in order, but I'm going through my pictures and deciding what to blog about.  I took Brad to the Special Needs dance.  Brad looked so handsome and he was such a ladies man.  I was just so touched watching all these high school kids dancing with all the special needs kids.  And now for pictures:

He danced with so many girls that night :)

Ogden Half (I don't even like running...)

Those of you who know me know that I don't like running unless I have to.  I've only done a few races because my dad dared my sister and I to run them with him.  Here's my running total so far:

Moab Half - Spring 2008 - this was a good race :)
Rim Rock Full Marathon - November 2010  Uphill and snowy the first 6.5 miles then continued to snow.
Moab Half - Saint Patrick's Day Weekend 2012  SUPER WINDY once we got out of the canyon
Ogden Half - May 2013- pouring rain and super early

I will tell you about the last one I ran.  It's amazing how much work tires me out and give me no incentive to run.  I did not train very well for the Ogden Half and it killed me on my time.  I would run maybe once or twice a week during the months before.  The two weeks before the race I got sick.  I don't get sick very often so I thought it would go away after a few days.  Well, a week passed and I was still coughing and blowing ridiculous amounts of snot out of my nose on an hourly basis.  I finally went to the doctor with a week before the race, but man, this sickness just got the best of me.  The last two weeks I didn't run at all.  But I felt that I couldn't wear the sweet shirt unless I ran it.  Nate was planning on running it with me, but two days before the race, he threw out his back and was unable to run.

Nate in the ER

The next morning, I woke up at 3:30 a.m. to drive to Ogden because the last shuttle bus left at 5:00 a.m. sharp.  (Again,  I'm not sure why I keep doing this stuff...)
Now for some pictures to make this post not so boring.

4 in the morning pre-race...

It was raining so we ran with garbage bags

Dad and Steve

After the race, freezing and tired

When we first started running, my chest was burning from still being sick, so my pace was super slow.  I averaged about an 11 minute mile until the last 2 miles.  My overall time was 2 hours and 23 minutes. So SLOW for what I'm used to running.  I told my husband that I need to run one more to redeem myself, and this time I will actually train for it.  Ha!  Now enjoy a couple more pics stolen from the professional website...

Soaking wet

Finished!

It was an interesting race.  Super pretty run but I wish I had a race that had decent weather.  Maybe the next one I do will be perfect...
